Independence Day Celebration
December 2009, St Matthew participated in the Independence Live Nativity: Angels
announce the birth of a savior to the startled shepherds. Angels, glowing and brilliant in
the night - their faces veiled by the glory of God that shown around them.
2009 Crew!
Fishing is always a popular pastime. And once you paid
Michelle or Winnie, Rudy would help you put the bait on.
Setting up the fish pond and kick ball -
hard work but fun too.
Some Kickball pro was right on target.
The mountain lion did not stand a chance.
We have been participating in the 4th of July
Celebration in Independence. This year we
sponsored a fish pond and kick ball area.

Projects
The membership of St. Matthew Lutheran Church-Sandy Hill generously shows their caring for God's people in
need.

Through their loving handiwork the Women of the Church during the period Easter 2010 to Easter 2011 sewed
60 quilts and assembled 31 school kits for distribution through Lutheran World Relief. Since Easter of 2011, the
ladies have sewn 49 quilts, 17 of which have been sent to the Southwest Indian Foundation, and they have doubled
to 61 the number of school kits, each of which contained about $11 worth of supplies for elementary school
children.

In 2010, the generosity of the membership of St. Matthew touched people, and especially children, internationally
in Haiti, Central African Republic, and Peru. On domestic and local levels, our benevolence reached the Lutheran
Domestic Disaster Relief Fund, Higgins Help Center and Faith Mission, Bread Partners, Habitat for Humanity,
and Luther Hill. The total contribution to these causes was $6,573.

Benevolence support in 2011 is on schedule to surpass the 2010 level by 79%! We praise the Lord for blessing the
charity of our congregation. In 2011, disbursed and budgeted items scheduled to be disbursed total $11,740. The
congregation of St. Matthew is sponsoring mission work in Eastern Europe and Russia, across Southern USA,
and at home in Brenham. Our congregation has responded to tornado, flood, and wildfire disasters across the
United States. We are supporting the work of Hospice Brazos Valley, which services the needs of the terminally
and chronically ill citizens in Washington County. We are thankful for our association with Lutheran
Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and made donations to LCMC operations and to recently
graduated seminarians.

We pray for God's blessing on St. Matthew's gifts of love. We pray for God's blessing on the organizations and
charities who accept our gifts in support of their mission. We pray for God's blessing on all in need who are
beneficiaries of gifts sent from St. Matthew Lutheran Church-Sandy Hill.
We also provide the facilities for meetings of the
Sandy Hill chapter of the Washington County 4-H club.
